Tournament Itinerary
7 October 2024 – Monday – Arrival Day & Competition Round 1
Guests arrived with a lovely breakfast served by Hermanus Golf Club, whilst collecting their
Goodie Bags from the OAM Staff.
Round 1 as played at Hermanus Golf Club, with Graham and Michelle Gibbons winning the day
on 43 BB Stableford Points C/I, whist Marius and Estelle Smal ended up as Runners Up also on
43 Points. Nearest the Pin accolades went to Peter Seward on Hole 9 and James Munro on
Hole 24, whilst the long hitters Jackie Scott and Mike Glasby claimed the Longest Drive prizes.
A Welcome Dinner was enjoyed with our Tournament Anchor Sponsor – Overberg Asset
Management.
8 October 2024 – Tuesday – Competition Round 2
Competition Round 2 was played at the amazing Arabella Golf Course with the competition
format Alternate Combined Stableford.
Brian & Cheryl Murphy with 55 Alternate Combined BB Stableford Points won the day at
Arabella, with Wayne and Iana Simon as Runners Up with 52 Points C/I, with Graham &
Michelle Gibbons C/O also on 52 Points.
Nearest the Pin Winners were Ben van Rooyen Hole 7 and Peter Seward Hole 17, with the Van
Rooyen Couple hitting the Longest Drives on the day.
Dinner was enjoyed in Hermanus with the rest of the evening enjoyed at leisure.
9 October 2024 – Wednesday – Competition Round 3
Competition Round 3 brought us back to Hermanus, again attempting the Alternate Combined
BB Stableford Format.
Nothing could stop Peter and Rosemary Seward winning the day on a massive 59 Alternate
Combined BB Stableford Points, with Brian and Charyl Murphy again in the mix, ending with 54
Points as Runners Up.
Michelle Petty Hole 16 and Marga Liebenberg Hole 9 claimed the Nearest the Pin accolades,
whilst Cheryl Murphy on Hole 17 smashed the Longest Drive and Roland Trollip outdrove all the
men on Hole 2.
The evening was enjoyed courtesy Overberg Asset Management, with a braai at their place of
stay during the tournament.
10 October 2024 – Thursday – Competition Round 4
The Final Round was played at the intimidating and extremely difficult Kleinmond Golf Course.
With Kleinmond being the home away from home club of the Murphy’s, Brian and Cheryl
Murphy walked away with first prize on the final day, having been in the mix during each round
of the tournament, scoring 44 BB Stableford Points. Pieter Brink and Erna van Staden were C/I
to the honours as Runners Up on 41 Points, with Roland Trollip and Jackie Scott being C/O.
Tracey Glasby smashed the Longest Drive on Hole 5, whilst Michelle Gibbons Hole 1 and Ben
van Rooyen Hole 16, manage to win Nearest the Pin.
The Final Prizegiving and Dinner was enjoyed with a braai at the Kleinmond Golf Club
entertainment by wonderful music, by a local music artist.
11 October 2024 – Friday – Departure Day
Another successful Van Ross tournament completed in the Overberg, whilst meeting up with old
friends and meeting new friends. Thank you to all participants and the different Golf Clubs we
played at for an astonishing time, thoroughly enjoyed by all.

Tournament Itinerary
29 April 2025 – Tuesday – Arrival Day
With guests arriving at the magnificent Fancourt Resort, the preparations were made for the
Welcome Address and Dinner at the Poolside Café at Fancourt.
With 24 guests for the first time attending a Van Ross Tournament, many new friendships were
formed.
Goodie Bags were distributed whilst guests are enjoying drinks at the Poolside Café. An
outstanding Welcome Dinner was served by Fancourt, with guests retiring for an early evening,
for their important round of golf tomorrow with forecasted rain.
30 April 2025 – Wednesday – Competition Round 1
Competition Round 1 at the beautiful Outeniqua Golf Course at Fancourt started with not the
ideal weather conditions, but even so always a privilege to play at Fancourt.
Roland Trollip and Jackie Scott won Round 1 C/I on 39 BB Stableford Points, with Keith Petty
and Brian Murphy being the Runners-Up also on 39 Points.
Craig Ross (Flook) managed to smash the Longest Drive on Hole 8, with Clare Murphy doing so
for the Ladies on Hole 17.
Nearest the Pin Winners included Steve Moubray Hole 4, Robin Rogers Hole 7, Gawie Barnard
Hole 12, and Clare Murphy Hole 17, whom all competed in the R 10,000 Putt Out Competition,
unfortunately with no success.
After a rather chilly and wet round of golf, participants enjoyed the rest of the evening at leisure.
1 May 2025 – Thursday – Competition Round 2
Competition Round 2, with an Alternate Combined BB Stableford format, teed off at Montagu
Golf Course, with slightly better weather conditions, for those that teed off early. The day
belonged to Ben and Joanne van Rooyen on 56 Alt Combined BB Stableford Points, with
Runners Up Dr Jack Biko and Nomia Biko on 49 Points as Runners-Up.
Clare Murphy again walking away with the honour of Longest Drive for Ladies, whilst Neil
Schutte managed to hit the Longest Drive amongst the Men on Hole 18.
The Nearest the Pin Winners were Joanne van Rooyen Hole 2, PC Benade Hole 8, Gawie
Barnard Hole 12, and Mike Glasby on Hole 17 with none of them managing to sink their Putts
during the R 10,000 Putt Out Competition.
The guests enjoyed their evening at leisure, enjoying wonderful dinners at the great restaurants
at Fancourt.
2 May 2025 – Friday – Competition Round 3
The final Round was played on the Outeniqua Course and unfortunately due to the rain the past
two days, no golf carts were allowed. Weather conditions were not ideal, but it’s the final round
of the tournament and participants are not backing down.

Michael & Tracey Glasby won the day on 51 Points C/I, with Roland Trollip and Jackie Scott as
Runners Up also on 51 Points C/O, with Craig Ross and Jaco de Villiers also on 51 Points and
Ben & Joane van Rooyen also on 51 Points.
Joanne van Rooyen smashed the Longest Drive for ladies on Hole 17, with Craig Ross doing so
for the Men on Hole 8. Nearest the Pin Winners included Tracey Glasby Hole 4, Clive Gallienne
Hole 7, Steve Moubray Hole 12, and Francois le Roux Hole 15.
The Final Prizegiving took place at the lovely Monet’s Restaurant, where an outstanding Final
Dinner was served, with Music Entertainment by Albert Meintjies and Tanja Storm from the
Horison Band.
3 May 2025 – Saturday – Departure Day
Another successful Van Ross tournament was completed, whilst meeting up with old friends and
meeting new friends. Thank you to Fancourt for accommodating us at probably the best golfing
destination in Southern Africa, thoroughly enjoyed by all.

Wonderful time of the year to be in the Garden Route. With guests staying at the Pezula Nature
Retreat and others at the waterfront in the Knysna Quays, the Welcome Dinner was hosted at
the waterfront. Although not the desired number of guests, it was a very enjoyable evening with
old friends, whilst forming new friendships.
26 November 2024 – Monday – Competition Round 1

27 November 2024 – Tuesday – Competition Round 2
Competition Round 2, with an Alternate Combined BB Stableford format, was played at Goose
Valley Golf Course. The day belonged to Johann & Marga Liebenberg on 50 Alternate
Combined Stableford Points C/I, with Wayne & Iana Simon also on 50 Points C/O.
The Nearest the Pin accolades went to Anton der Kinderen Hole 5 and Charles Hulley Hole 11.
Iana Simon outdrove all the ladies, winning Longest Drive on Hole 9, whilst big hitter Johann
Liebenberg smashed his way to honours of the Longest Drive title on the day on Hole 18.
The guests enjoyed their evening at leisure, enjoying wonderful dinners at the great restaurants
in the Garden Route.
28 November 2025 – Wednesday – Competition Round 3
Competition Round 3, another Alternate Combined BB Stableford format, was played on the
stunning but difficult Simola Golf Course.
Again Pieter Brink & Erna van Staden managed to win the day on 47 Alternate Combined BB
Stableford Points, with Anton der Kinderen and Jackie Scott ending as Runners Up on the day
with 45 Points.
Ben van Rooyen managed the Nearest the Pin on Hole 9, whilst Erna van Staden clearly having
a great day again, with NTP on Hole 11.
The Longest Drives belong to Jackie Scott on Hole 7 and playing partner Anton der Kinderen on
Hole 18.
29 November 2024 – Thursday – Competition Round 4
Final Round was played at the magnificent Pezula Championship Course.
Pieter Brink and Erna van Staden were unstoppable, pulled off another win with 41 BB
Stableford Points, whilst Johan & Marga Liebenberg finished their day as Runners Up.
As yesterday Jackie Scott and Anton der Kinderen smashed the Longest Drives at Pezula.
Nearest the Pin accolades went to Iana Simon Hole 3 and Erna van Staden Hole 11.
The Final Prizegiving and Dinner was enjoyed by all at the Knysna Quays.
